Installation Guide

Using the instructions below, the tracker device can be fitted by any competent vehicle owner, an in-car entertainment retailer, your favourite local garage or a mobile mechanic / auto electrician.

1. Fit the power cable to the device


Your tracker is supplied with a 3-way power cable. Connect the supplied cable to the device socket.

2. Hook up the electrical connections


In order to ensure reliable terminations we recommend that all connections be soldered and wrapped in a suitable heat-shrink material or alternatively the use of 'Autoleads Add-A-Fuse' or 'Add-a-circuit' type connectors (also known as 'piggy back fuse connectors') is also recommended.

Add-a-circuit connectors are available from various retailers such as Halfords, Amazon, eBay and local motor factors. Crimps, IDC and 'Scotchlok' type terminations can be unreliable if used with the wrong tooling or wires sizes.

Connect the RED wire to a PERMANENT +12v (or +24v) vehicle power source via the supplied 1A fuse.

Connect the BLACK wire to GROUND/EARTH via the supplied 1A fuse.

Connect the WHITE wire to an ignition switched +12v (or +24v) power source (i.e. something that only goes live when the vehicle ignition is ON) via the supplied 1A fuse.


i. RED +12v / +24v PERMANENT LIVE 1A FUSED
ii. BLACK GROUND / EARTH 1A FUSED
iii. WHITE +12v / +24v IGNITION LIVE 1A FUSED

3. Check the status LEDs


Switch the vehicle ignition on.

The first time you power-up the device it will take between five minutes and twenty minutes to obtain a initial GPS fix. This is perfectly normal.

At this point your device will automatically register itself on the GSM data transfer network and the LEDs will light up.

During normal operation the LEDs should:


i. Green LED (GPS) Double flash once per second
ii. Blue LED (GSM) Single flash every 3 seconds

LED Troubleshooting:


i. Green LED solid (no flash) No GPS fix
ii. Green LED slow flash Lost GPS fix
iii. Blue LED solid (no flash) No GSM signal
iv. Both LEDs off No power, check connections

4. Mount the device


Determine a suitable installation location that offers an optimum view of the sky.

If installing in a car, choose a position towards the top of the dashboard and as far forwards as possible to give the optimum view through the vehicle windscreen. If installing on a motorcycle or quadbike we recommend a dry position under the pillion seat/cowl or behind a horizontal fairing panel.

There must be no conductive objects between the device and the windscreen (i.e. nothing metallic, foil or carbon based).

For optimum GPS location accuracy and performance please mount the device with the 'SKY SIDE' facing the sky.

Secure the device to a flat surface with double sided foam adhesive tape, being sure to first clean the surface with a de-greaser or alcohol-based wipe. Alternatively you may secure the device to the vehicle using a 5.0mm cable tie (to suit the cable tie guides on the device).

Make a note the device orientation with respect to the vehicle (e.g. connector facing rear of vehicle) as this information may be required for future additional features.

5. Check operational status


Before replacing any panels or leaving the vehicle we recommend that you first confirm normal operation and good communication.

To do this, log in to https://VehicleGPS.UK and check the time and date of the last update received from your device. If the ignition is switched on this should be less than sixty seconds ago. If the ignition is switched off this should be less than one hour ago.
